Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Records

In 1997 the 75th legislature passed a bill requiring DPS to make criminal history records available via the Internet. Furthermore, the legislature empowered the agency to charge a small fee to cover costs. DPS quickly realized that the only way to distribute the information in a cost-effective manner was to use the World Wide Web. Read Case Study

Texas Commission for the Blind

Training students that are visually impaired, either completely or partially, presented in itself a great challenge. In addition, Access and its application are not necessarily designed for such an audience. MicroAssist met the challenge by customizing its teaching methods and employing innovative approaches. McGinnis, Lochridge & Kilgore

MicroAssist helped McGinnis, Lochridge, & Kilgore make the transition from:
  • Novell NetWare to Windows NT
  • WordPerfect Office to Microsoft Outlook and Exchange
  • WordPerfect for DOS to Microsoft Word
  • Quattro Pro to Microsoft Excel
Designed and implemented a wide area network between Austin and Houston, including internet connectivity using the Microsoft Proxy Server. Also designed Windows NT network to support file and print services, Microsoft Exchange, and Microsoft SQL server. Converted macros and templates from WordPerfect to Word. Trained over 150 attorneys and support personnel in Outlook, Word, and Excel.
